Britain's first holiday resort, Scarborough, has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years. The North Bay and South Bay are separated by the headland on which stands the town's medieval castle. Safe beaches, cliff tops and a busy shopping centre stand only yards apart. Scarborough is a town of immense style with some of the finest parks and gardens in Britain.

Whitby & North York Moors National Park
Your included excursion today takes you across the dramatic North York Moors National Park to Robin Hood's Bay (steep walk to the village centre). Then call at the much loved fishing town of Whitby, dominated by its cliff-top Abbey, with its quaint cobbled streets and picturesque houses standing on the steep slopes of the River Esk. The narrow streets and alleys winding down to the quays of this seafaring town still bustle as they have done for centuries. For the energetic, climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey and explore the beautiful ruins which tower over the town. Well known as the home port of the legendary seafarer Captain Cook, it also draws Dracula fans with its many connections to Bram Stoker. Helmsley Walled Garden & The World of James Herriot
Head to picture postcard town Helmsley, an attractive market town within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with an impressive 900 year old castle (now ruins), There is an included visit to the Helmsley Walled Garden which sits beneath the ruins. Built in 1759, this historic garden is full of intimate spaces such as the White Garden and Garden of Contemplation where you can enjoy peace and tranquility. A guided tour will help you discover the garden's secrets and highlights. Continue on, descending spectacular Sutton Bank (a steep drop of 140m), to Thirsk where you will step through the famous red door of 23 Kirkgate into the World of James Herriot, the fully restored site of his original 1940s home and veterinary practice. The real star of the 2016 Dad's Army film, bright and breezy Bridlington Old Town is a charming pocket of Yorkshire. It is well worth a visit. A real Yorkshire gem!
