Itinerary
Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach heading northwards with a comfort stop enroute - expect to reach your hotel mid-afternoon. 2 nights with breakfast & dinner included.Day 2 - Breakfast before setting off for the centre of Nottingham for your included guided tour of the city. This thorough and fun exploration of the evolution of the legend is told against the back- drop of the city. As you visit places associated with Robin Hood, you will also see the town's key sites of interest and learn about its history and culture.
After your tour there will be free time to perhaps visit the famous Nottingham Castle, the underground caves or just take in the splendours of this exciting city. Lace making around Nottingham grew out of the stocking knitting trade. In 1799 there were six lace makers in Nottingham; by 1832 there were 186. The invention and manufacturer of lace making machines replaced the time- consuming manual process and drove the rapid growth of lace making. Returning to your hotel late afternoon.
Day 3 - Breakfast & check out. Heading southwards to Stoke Bruerne to break your journey.
A pretty Northamptonshire village with two canal-side public houses, The Boat Inn, and The Navigation, both serving a variety of meals and drinks. Time permitting the Canal Museum is well worth a look - housed on two floors of a historic corn mill, the country's first canal museum at Stoke Bruerne provides an overview of the history of Britain's canals. It offers a fascinating insight into the rich waterway heritage of Stoke Bruerne and the Grand Union Canal and the people that lived and worked on them. Continuing onto interchange and home early evening. Back to top
