Life is slow and water reigns supreme in this charming hidden corner of Northern Ireland, where large tranquil loughs and placid waterways bordered by peaceful woodlands dominate the landscape. The historic market town of Enniskillen, the county capital, is the ideal base for exploring Fermanagh and is built on an island between Upper and Lower Lough Erne. This brand-new tour is packed full of included excursions and entrances and features a visit to Ireland’s oldest pottery producer, Belleek, as well as a lough cruise and a vintage style afternoon tea at wonderful Blessingbourne Estate. Come and discover the British Isles’ ‘other Lake District’, home to dramatic scenery, ancient history, effervescent locals and romantic country estates.

DAY 1 - From your chosen joining point, your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, you will travel northwards with ample stops for refreshments and lunch before arriving across the border for your overnight at Cairndale Hotel in the heart of Dumfries. DAY 2 - After breakfast, continue to the Dumfries and Galloway coast to Cairnryan for the late morning sailing aboard the fast Stena Line ferry to Belfast. The crossing takes two hours 15 minutes and on arrival drive straight to your main holiday resort, Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, arriving late afternoon. DBB
DAY 3 – 5 – At leisure in Enniskillen with TWO INCLUDED EXCURSION DAYS
LEISURE DAY IN ENNISKILLEN
The hotel is located a little way outside the centre of Enniskillen (approx. half an hour walk) and a local coach will provide a transfer service into the town centre in the morning and back to the hotel in the afternoon. A taxi fare costs approx. £5 one way. Easy going Enniskillen, Ireland’s only island town, straddles the River Erne as its winds its way northwards form Upper Lough Erne to the large Lower Lough Erne. The town centre is dominated by the walls and battlements of Enniskillen Castle, built in the 1400s and home to two museums – the Fermanagh County Museum and the Inniskillings Museum which tells the story of the town’s two regiments. Entrance to Enniskillen Castle Museums is included.
BELLEEK POTTERY & LOUGH ERNE CRUISE
Head to the village of Belleek on the banks of the River Erne for a tour of Ireland’s oldest working producer of fine China, established in 1857. Housed in an imposing Georgian-style building, the world-famous Belleek Pottery invites you to discover more about its enduring success of Irish craftmanship with a 30-minute guided tour. Enjoy some free time in the village before heading off to continue your exploration of the Fermanagh Lakelands with a relaxing cruise on picturesque Lower Lough Erne aboard the Lady of the Lake, a spacious double deck pleasure cruiser.
CASTLE COOLE & BLESSINGBOURNE ESTATE
Spend the morning at nearby Castle Coole, a magnificent 18th century mansion and landscaped park. One of Ireland’s finest neo-classical houses, it was built to impress by the first Earl of Belmore in the 1790s. Enjoy a glimpse into what life was like ‘above and below stairs’ as you visit the kitchen, reception rooms and service quarters. Then it’s off to the lovely Blessingbourne Estate, an Elizabethan manor house and home to the Lowry family. Its characterful interior has many delightful features, a private art collection including original William Morris paper, a Grecian scene by Edward Lear as well as the work of modern Irish artists. There is a Carriage and Costume Museum and after a tour of the estate, you’ll enjoy a scrumptious, vintage-style afternoon tea.
DAY 6 – After a farewell hearty Irish breakfast, you head homeward via Dublin for a brief visit of the affable Irish capital with its Georgian Squares, bustling Grafton Street and infamous Temple Bar district. You will board the mid-afternoon crossing back to Holyhead and it is recommended to have a meal on board as it will be mid-evening before arriving at your overnight back at Holiday Inn Runcorn. BB
