Itinerary

Your Itinerary

DAY 1 From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, you travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais, then continue to Germany via the auto-routes of France and Belgium and onto Remagen for evening arrival to check in for 3 nights. B&B

DAY 2 - 3 At leisure in Remagen with two included excursions. Enjoy an included Glühwein at the hotel one evening

Remagen is probably best remembered for the fierce battle during WW11 fought over the Rhine River crossing here. You may be interested to visit the Peace Museum, housed in one of the surviving basalt towers of the famous bridge.

Christmas Market weekends in 2022 are on a B&B basis. You can enjoy all the festive food and goodies at the markets to the full - make sure you try Bratwurst, Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes), gebrannte Mandeln (roasted & candied almonds), mushrooms with garlic sauce, Flammkuchen, chestnuts, Hungarian Langos (a kind of fried dough topped with cheese).....to name but a few! The hotel is walking distance (5-10 mins) from the main Marktstrasse and the Rheinpromenade where you will find a variety of cafes and restaurants for anyone who is still hungry in the evenings.....

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Cochem Christmas Market
Follow the course of the Moselle River passing many picturesque villages before arriving at Cochem, a 16th century town where time seems to have stood still. Picture-postcard Cochem has a fantastic collection of half-timbered houses, a fairy-tale castle set on a vine-clad hill and a pleasant riverside promenade. Don't miss out on a warming Glühwein, grown and produced locally for connoisseurs who only enjoy top quality. Local wines make great gifts and you will sample several varieties during an included tasting at the Anton Hammes wine cellars in the village of Alken. A souvenir wine glass is included to take home.

Cologne Christmas Market
Cologne is a fantastic Christmas market and a definite must see visited by thousands of people each year. Each of the markets has something slightly different to offer. Always challenging each other to be the most creative and unique. Be absorbed in the festive atmosphere, gleaming lights and brightest decorations. With hundreds of stalls lining the streets, it's easy to see why it is one of the most popular Christmas markets in Europe. The largest Christmas tree in Rhineland competes with the dramatic cathedral to steal the show and the whole city bursts into light through the long winter nights. In a picturesque setting overlooking the Rhine, the Cologne Harbour Christmas market at the Chocolate Museum gives festive Cologne a maritime flavour.

DAY 4 An early start takes you back to Calais and the return ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
