Plan My Trip

Day 1 – Rüdesheim - From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to your designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach heading to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Continuing via the auto-routes of France, Belgium and Germany to Rüdesheim. Board the MV Esmeralda this evening for your 3 night cruise. Full board including buffet breakfast, set lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. On board entertainment on one night. Dock overnight in Rüdesheim.

Day 2 – Koblenz - The ship departs early to cruise all morning through the most spectacular part of the Rhine Gorge passing by the famous Loreley Rock to Koblenz to arrive around lunchtime. Spend the afternoon at leisure in Koblenz. The old part of the city has more than 100 glittering, festive, cottage-style stands with their traditional gingerbread hearts and blaze of lights. One of Germany's oldest cities is turned into a Christmas paradise in the Advent season, ideal for romantic strolls around the city. Dock overnight in Koblenz.

Day 3 - Cologne – Continue cruising this morning to dock at your final destination this afternoon, the vibrant city of Cologne. The hive of festive activity takes place around the cathedral and the old town where you will find a maze of charming stalls and huts. There are also a number of smaller markets to enjoy including the Harbour Christmas Market held on the Rhine. Captain’s Farewell Dinner this evening with a small gift for the ladies. Dock overnight in Cologne.

Day 4 – Disembark early this morning as you bid a fond farewell to the Captain and crew to travel back through Germany, Belgium and France to Calais for the return to England.

Due to the access to the ship, an occasional need to dock one or more ships abreast and it not always being possible to get the coach immediately close to the ship, there may be a need to get from the road onto the quay areas and use gangways. A reasonable degree of mobility is therefore required. For navigational reasons and passenger safety, the captain reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary if necessary.

Dress Code on board is informal but it is requested that no jeans or denim are worn during dinner in the restaurant. On the Captain’s Farewell Dinner evening some passengers like to dress up for the occasion but this entirely optional.

Tipping – This is entirely at the discretion of the passenger and should reflect the satisfaction with the services you have received. There is an envelope in the cabin should you wish to leave a tip for the crew. A recommendation is approximately €5 per person per day.

Voltage – 220V / 380V European 2 pin continental adaptor is required on board
