Day 1: We travel to our delightful hotel, located on the outskirts of Chester, in time for dinner.

Day 2:  This morning, we make the short journey to Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre, set within 50 acres in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. Offering a unique opportunity to get up close to the world’s largest breed of horse, this dedicated stud farm has over 50 years’ experience in breeding and preserving the magnificent shire horse. The centre is also home to Shetland Ponies, Red Foxes, Scottish Wildcats, Otters, Red Deer and Owls. This afternoon we head to the heart of Chester as we embark on a tranquil cruise on the River Dee. After our cruise there will be time at leisure to explore the beauty and unique atmosphere of this historical city which is home to the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain and a 1000-year-old Cathedral. One of the most iconic and fascinating landmarks in Chester are The Rows, a unique architectural treasure that date back 700 years and now home to boutiques, independent shops and restaurants. These stunning two-tiered timber framed galleries create a shopping experience like no other.

 Day 3: Our day begins with a guided tour of the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, designed by the great civil engineer, Thomas Telford. Offering an immersive look into British canal history, walk around its locks and docks, exploring restored boats, warehouses and worker cottages and learn about the significance of this historic dock yard and its workers. This afternoon we make our way to Ness Botanic Gardens. Located on the Wirral peninsula, the award-winning gardens offer a mix of formal planting and wild meadows in a beautiful array of colour. With a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, with views across the Dee estuary to the Welsh mountains, the 64-acre gardens are overflowing with horticultural treasures.

Day 4 Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the dramatic Clwydian mountains, past Ruthin and over the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to the beautiful riverside town of Llangollen. This picturesque gem in the Dee Valley is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Wales, for good reason. There will be time at leisure in this charming town before making the short journey to Froncysyllte where we embark on a 2-hour canal cruise on a traditionally styled narrowboat. Sailing high above the River Dee across the 'Stream in the Sky', this bucket list experience, with fascinating commentary along the way, traverses through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and over the awe-inspiring Pontcysyllte Aqueduct; named as the most captivating UNESCO World Heritage Site in the World.

 Day 5: After breakfast this morning, we make our way home.
