Day 1: We make our way to Somerset and our hotel in Weston-super-Mare arriving in time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 2: After breakfast we make our way to the city of Wells – the smallest city in England to be precise. Wells is compact, with cobbled streets, medieval architecture and a market square. Visit the magnificent Cathedral in the centre of this small city, wander down Vicars’ Close that adjoins the Cathedral, believed to be the only complete medieval street left in England. It is a joy to wander this medieval city and also to enjoy one of the many excellent cafés or restaurants on offer. In the afternoon we take a leisurely drive through Cheddar, famous for the magnificent limestone Gorge. We will stop in the village where you will find quaint tearooms, small independent shops and of course, it is home to the world-famous cheese. You can still see the traditional method of cheese making at the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company.
Day 3: Our excursion today takes us to Bath, the largest city in Somerset and the only UK city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bath is famous for its Roman Baths dating back to 43AD, as well as the Royal Crescent and the Circus and many other examples of stunning architecture. Bath’s compact, visitor-friendly centre is overflowing with places to eat and drink, plus some of the finest independent shops in Britain.
Day 4: This morning, after breakfast, we must say goodbye and begin our journey home
