Summer at Kew Gardens | Crosskeys Day Trips
Kew Gardens is most spectacular in the summer with what is believed to be the longest herbaceous borders in the country. At more than 320 metres, the borders offer an adventure for the senses – with fresh fragrances, dazzling flower beds and feathery grasses in a joyful display, in a rainbow of colours.
The Temperate House is the world’s largest Victorian glass house where you can travel the world and discover rare and threatened plants. Home to 1,500 species from Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific Islands, The Temperate House tells the story of how Kew and partners all around the world are working to rescue plants that are rare or already extinct in the wild.
The Mediterranean Gardens depict a typical Mediterranean natural habitat and transports you to the sun-kissed landscape of Southern Europe with Tuscan Olive Trees, Italian Cypress, Cistus and lavender or take a mindful moment in the tranquil Japanese Gardens combining a Garden of Peace, a Garden of Activity and a Garden of Harmony.
A wonderful day out in the most biodiverse place on Earth, Kew’s Gardens are truly breathtaking in the summer with every corner alive with colour and life.
