Day 1: We will make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon making a stop in Oxford for some free time to enjoy the city. Oxford, also know as The City of Dreaming Spires, is famous the world over for its University and place in history; it has numerous major tourist attractions including the iconic Bodleian Library, Carfax Tower offering superb views over the city and the historic Covered Market with its many tourist shops. Explore Oxford’s wide streets, intricate network of smaller lanes lined with noble buildings and plenty of places to stop and relax for great food and drink. Whilst you are here, see if you can spot any familiar sights often used as the backdrop to many TV programmes and films, from Inspector Morse to Harry Potter. We continue our journey to Stratford-upon-Avon and our hotel arriving in time for dinner.

Day 2: Today we enjoy a scenic tour around the Cotswolds. Visiting Stow-on-the-Wold, a quintessential English town, Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the ‘Little Venice’ of the Cotswolds and often voted one of the prettiest villages in England and Broadway, sitting at the heart of the Cotswolds. These honey-coloured villages all offer idyllic village scenes along with a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants, cafes and tea-rooms.

Day 3:  After breakfast, the day is at leisure to explore Stratford-upon-Avon and its many brilliant attractions. Stratford is the ultimate historic market town with more than 800 years of history, containing many buildings that survive today that would have been familiar to Shakespeare. Visit Shakespeare’s birthplace where you can walk in the famous playwright’s footsteps, exploring his childhood home and hearing tales of his family life. Alternatively, you could visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, a beautiful 500-year-old Tudor cottage where Shakespeare courted his bride-to-be. Resplendent in thatch, the Hathaway’s family home has acres of gardens and orchards to enjoy and a sculpture trail to follow, inspired by the Bard’s plays. You will find quaint side streets with unique and individual shops, to open parklands along the river; there is something for everyone in this beautiful town.

*It is highly recommended to book any entrances required in advance.*

Day 4: After breakfast, we begin our journey home making a stop for lunch in the city of Chelmsford, Essex. Chelmsford’s award winning city centre provides an unrivalled shopping experience. A pedestrianised High Street and a bustling indoor market are complimented by specialist shopping areas including High Chelmer. As well as shops there are nearly 100 pubs, restaurants, wine bars and street cafés offering the perfect opportunity to take a break and recharge the batteries. Add in tranquil riverside parks and it’s plain to see why Chelmsford is the perfect place to visit. After exploring this delightful city at leisure we continue our homeward journey.
