Day 1: We arrive at our idyllically located hotel in Llanberis in time for dinner.

Day 2: This morning we visit Caernarfon Castle, recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the most impressive castles in Wales, Edward I’s formidable structure on the banks of River Seiont was intended as a seat of power - and as a symbol of English dominance over the Welsh. Following our visit to the Castle we enjoy a scenic drive to Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia and North Wales’ most popular inland resort. We enjoy time at leisure this afternoon in this magical setting with its timeless allure and distinctly Alpine feel enhanced by the surrounding Gwydyr Fores.

Day 3: This morning we travel to the unique Italianate village of Portmeirion, exploring the lovely terraced gardens, picturesque village and shops. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the early 20th century, Portmeirion's Riviera inspired houses, ornamental garden and campanile are a beautiful pocket of madness like no other. After our visit we enjoy a journey on the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK's longest heritage railway and one of the most spectacular ways to see the awe-inspiring scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. Our one-way journey begins in the picture postcard riverside village of Beddgelert. Snaking through the forest and crossing the summit of the line, we pass through Rhyd Ddu before arriving at the foot of Snowdon. Our journey continues as we descend from the mountains to the coast before arriving beneath the castle walls in historic Caernarfon.

Day 4: This morning we travel to the Isle of Anglesey and nearby Beaumaris with its medieval castle, lovely beach and Victorian pier. While there we relax on a leisurely 80 minute return boat cruise to Puffin Island.  Located at the Northeast entrance of the Menai Straits this little island hosts an abundance of wildlife including Atlantic grey seals and resident coastal birds. Puffins inhabit the island for breeding usually between April to August and return to the waters after the breeding season. We may be fortunate enough to encounter porpoise or even dolphins and you’ll be entertained with light-hearted and informative commentary along the way with help spotting the different birds and wildlife throughout the voyage. In the afternoon we visit one of North Wales’ best kept secrets, the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant.  With 10 acres of gardens including a two acre walled garden, fantastic valley gardens packed with unusual and interesting plants, flowering shrubs and trees, rivers and waterfalls this fascinating haven was undiscovered for over 70 years.

Day 5: We depart after a delicious breakfast and enjoy our final excursion to the British Ironwork Centre. The Ironworks is an award-winning destination, famous for incredible art and sculpture, walking trails, fabulous shopping and an extensive café. They have the UK’s largest collection of decorative metalwork, national projects and beautiful finds from around the world. After our visit, we continue our journey home.
