Itinerary
Itinerary
Day 1: We travel to our delightful spa hotel, located on the outskirts of Bristol, in time for dinner.
Day 2: This morning, we travel to Cheddar Gorge. This breathtaking natural landmark measuring nearly 400 feet deep and 3 miles long is world renowned for its dramatic cliffs, spectacular caves and, of course, Britain’s favourite cheese. We begin our visit with free time to explore this bustling, picturesque village. You may wish to explore Gough’s Caves with its cathedral-like caverns and astounding rock formations or, for those who like a challenge, climb the 274 steep steps of Jacob’s Ladder for spectacular 360-degree views of the Mendip Hills and views of England’s largest gorge. The lower end of the village is lined with vibrant, independent cafes and tea rooms, offering delicious cream teas and somerset cider. This afternoon we visit the only remaining cheese maker in the town of Cheddar and watch the traditional methods of cheese-making and learn more about this heritage cheese.
Day 3: Today is the highlight or our tour with a full day excursion to Longleat Safari Park. Embark on a unique drive-through safari as we venture on the 6.5-mile route from the comfort of our coach. See lions, cheetahs, tigers and giraffes across the plains and watch out for the infamous macaques as they jump on board passing vehicles at the Monkey Drive-Through. Hop on board the Boat Safari and be escorted by Californian sea lions as you cruise past the colobus monkey’s island, gorilla colony and the hippo pod. Walking around the park you can discover Britain’s longest hedge maze and wander through the grand rooms and hidden halls in Longleat House.
Day 4: We travel into Wales today for our visit St Fagans National Museum of History for a captivating journey through Welsh history from Celtic times to present day. The open-air museum, with over 50 historic buildings from all over Wales, stands in the magnificent grounds of St Fagans Castle. This afternoon, we make our way to Cardiff Bay, a vibrant waterfront destination, with a variety of attractions, on the shore of a stunning freshwater lake. This idyllic location is perfect for a relaxing stroll with panoramic coastal views or to enjoy a bite to eat at Mermaid Quay which is home to more than 30 restaurants, cafes and bars.
Day 5: After breakfast this morning, we make our way home.
