Day 2: Today you are able to explore Rouen at your own pace. Right in the centre of Rouen, at the foot of one of the most beautiful cathedrals in France, our hotel is an ideal starting point for exploring this medieval city. Most of the top tourist attractions in Rouen lie within the city's pedestrian zone, a charming area of winding medieval lanes and picturesque half-timbered houses. Highlights include the magnificent cathedral, the renowned Fine Arts Museum, and the remarkable Gros-Horloge clock tower. In Rouen, visitors can retrace the steps of Joan of Arc to see where she went to trial and where she was martyred.
Day 3: After breakfast we head for the beautiful coast to visit three of the region’s most picturesque towns. Our first stop will be Honfleur, a charming seaside town on the Seine estuary that is immediately recognisable by its tall narrow buildings. This is a town of painters and Impressionism, with its narrow paved streets and picturesque baxckstreets, timber-framed house-fronts, little shops and restaurants, Honfleur radiates an irresistible charm. We next visit Trouville, it is both a charming seaside resort and a picturesque fishing village all in one. Known as the ‘Queen of Beaches’, and popular with artists and writers such as Monet and Proust, Trouville was a fashionable seaside resort of the aristocracy in the 1800s. Our last visit takes us to Deauville, Normandy’s answer to the French Riviera, and the beach resort of choice for weekending Parisians. Golden sands and seafront promenades dot the coast, while further inland you’ll find spacious plazas, terrace cafés, designer boutiques, and striking half-timbered buildings.
Day 4: After a morning at leisure in Rouen, we begin our journey home.
