Every year Ostend hosts the largest annual festival - Ostend at Anchor - this special event is a celebration of everything nautical showcasing sailing ships, sailors, sea-crafts and maritime markets.
With barely twenty ships in the first edition it is now a big puzzle to find a spot for the more than 150 ships in an ever-increasing range of wharves and docks, and though the channel of Ostend.
The authentic shipping festival not only takes place in the ports, but there is also a lot of entertainment and performances on the squares and in the (shopping) streets of Ostend.
