From our convenient base in Belgium, we hop across the border into Germany to visit Aachen Christmas market and also make the short journey to the fairytale Christmas town of Valkenburg in the Netherlands and visit the amazing Velvet Caves. With great food and drink and the remarkable festive atmosphere unique to continental Christmas Markets you’ll leave immersed with Christmas joy.

Itinerary
Day 1: We make the short journey to France and onwards to Belgium, arriving at our centrally located Liège hotel. This afternoon there will be time to wander into the city centre and explore this beautiful city. The Liège Christmas market or Village de Noel is Belgium’s largest and oldest Christmas market and opens on the last Friday in November each year. Located in the heart of the city, the market is inspired by an authentic Alpine village, complete with its festive traditions and chalets serving authentic Belgium treats with intoxicating scents of chocolate, fresh waffles and mulled wine.
Day 2: Today we travel into Germany to discover Aachen Christmas Market. Nestled in the historic heart of the city, against the stunning backdrop of Aachen Cathedral and Town Hall, this traditional German Christmas market with its giant Christmas tree adorned with thousands of twinkling lights is a must-see hidden gem. With its charming streets, delicious aromas, and festive cheer, Aachen Christmas Market captures the magic of the season. It’s the perfect place to pick up unique gifts, enjoy traditional flavours of bratwurst, currywurst and glühwein and soak in the spirit of Christmas.
Day 3: This morning we head to Valkenburg Christmas Market. Valkenburg offers a Christmas experience that combines history, tradition, and festive magic. This charming Dutch town transforms into a fairy-tale Christmas destination, with markets set inside historic cave systems. Underneath the ruined castle of Valkenburg, these extraordinary caves and centuries-old corridors are transformed into spectacular Christmas Markets. Twinkling lights and Christmas trees with charming decorations illuminate the caves’ darkest corners. With a huge variety of treasures to be found from hand-blown glass ornaments to jewellery browse for decorations and gifts from more than 50 shops inside the Velvet and Municipal Caves. This is truly a magical experience!
Day 4: After breakfast, we make our way home.
