Day 1: This morning we make our way to Portsmouth to catch our ferry to Ryde and our hotel. On our arrival at the Royal Esplanade Hotel, we will be treated to a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie; later Carol Singers will entertain us whilst we enjoy a glass of Prosecco. After our evening meal, the festive fun begins with Party Night; enjoy a bit of nostalgia with disco music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. It’s time to dance the night away, it is Christmas after all!
Day 2 – Christmas Eve: After breakfast, we board our coach for a scenic tour around the island, visiting Godshill, with its delightful medieval church, charming thatched roof cottages and a winding main-street. We will also visit Shanklin Old Village where you will see some of the oldest dwellings on the island. Our tour would not be complete without a visit to Alum Bay, famous for its coloured sand and the iconic landmark of The Needles. We return to our hotel where you can rest and relax before dinner. This evening’s entertainment will get you well and truly in the festive spirit with uplifting Christmas music full of joyful cheer.
Day 3 - Christmas Day: Merry Christmas! After a leisurely breakfast, you may wish to spend a relaxing morning opening presents, maybe take a stroll along the seafront, or why not spend the morning with newfound friends in the comfort of your hotel. We enjoy a delicious traditional Christmas lunch. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to watch the King’s speech. High Tea will be served this evening followed by entertainment and a Christmas quiz.
Day 4 – Boxing Day: Today, our excursion takes us to East Cowes and Queen Victoria’s summer home, Osborne House. Osborne reflects Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s passions, tastes and style. Ornate furnishings and artefacts from The Royal Collection fill rooms and corridors where Victoria entertained heads of state, inventors, princes and princesses and ruled the vast British Empire. Winter on the Isle of Wight comes late and finishes early with the longest number of sunlight hours in Britain, and a generally mild, almost Mediterranean climate. The garden features many evergreen plants, as was fashionable in the Victorian era, which provide much needed structure at this time of year.
Please note: Areas of the house may be closed during the winter period for important conservation works.
This evening we will enjoy a Festive Boxing Day Buffet and an evening of live entertainment.
Day 5: After breakfast, we say goodbye to this picturesque island and begin our journey home.
