Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1: We make our way to Wales and arrive at our fabulously located hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2: Today, we visit the ancient market town of Cardigan, located on the River Teifi estuary. This traditional Welsh town with its narrow streets is peppered with fantastic vintage and antique shops as well as local independent outlets selling original arts and crafts. There will be free time to explore this delightful town and get some lunch before our visit to Cardigan Castle this afternoon. We will enjoy an insightful 1-hour guided tour and learn about the history of the 900-year-old castle. Following the tour there will be free time to explore the stunning Grade II listed gardens bursting with colourful blooms and rare plant species. Later this afternoon there will be some time to relax and soak in the stunning panorama at our wonderful hotel or maybe enjoy some of the leisure facilities.

Day 3: We spend today exploring the quintessential seaside town of Tenby whose narrow streets wind down from the medieval centre to the picturesque harbour, framed by pastel painted cottages. Wander through the pretty, cobbled lanes and take time out to watch the world go by from a quaint café. Enjoy a stroll along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for stunning views or relax with an ice cream on one of Tenby’s glorious golden sandy beaches. There’s also a great variety of shops to choose from, whether you’re looking for a souvenir or maybe something a little more special.

Day 4: Today, we visit charming St Davids, the smallest city in Britain and a place of pilgrimage for centuries. We head directly for St Davids Cathedral, a real beauty amongst places of worship and one of Wales’s most iconic religious sites. St David chose this wild, beautiful region as the site of his monastery in the 6th century and you will find his shrine in the purple-stoned cathedral with its unique carved ceiling. Afterwards we spend time at leisure strolling around the picturesque lanes and browsing the interesting little shops. Thursday is a great day for our visit as it’s market day with a huge variety of products from food and drinks, plants, gifts and crafts that have all been locally produced. Perhaps make a visit to The Bench Ice Cream parlour  - with its delicious ice cream made from organic milk provided by the local cows.

Day 5: After a delicious Welsh breakfast, we make our way home.
