Day 1: We make our way to the beautiful county of Hampshire and our hotel arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2: We spend this morning at The Vyne, a one time gem in the Tudor crown turned 17th century family home, now part of the National Trust. We enjoy a guided tour of its stunning interiors before we have free time to explore the beautiful grounds. In the afternoon we head to rural Hampshire and the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery for a self-guided tour. Here we discover the Glasshouses, the Botanical Dry Room and the Dakin Still House before enjoying a tailor made drink.
Day 3: This morning we visit the historic city of Winchester, an unspoilt cathedral city on the edge of the rolling South Downs National Park. Winchester is England’s ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. In the afternoon we visit the Georgian market town of Alresford, the home of Hampshire’s historical watercress industry to board a Mid Hants Railway vintage train for a one-way journey on the Watercress Line, to Alton. From here we make the short journey to Jane Austen’s House Museum. We get a sense of how she lived and can see many personal items, ranging from books and letters to pieces of furniture, clothing and paintings.
Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast we travel to Salisbury, a Cathedral city of ageless beauty and captivating history. At the city’s heart is Salisbury Cathedral, a beacon that has attracted visitors for centuries with its ornate 13th century spire and most impressively, an original copy of Magna Carta. Gathered around the Cathedral is a modern medieval city, full of buildings crafted with the care of another age. The historic streets are home to all your favourite stores, as well as independent retailers offering products designed and crafted locally.
Day 5: It is time to say goodbye and begin our journey home.
