Join Caledonian Travel on this special trip to visit some of the islands in the Outer Hebrides, where lives still function around the tides and seasons, beautiful wild scenery and stunning white sand beaches await, remnants of life from back to the Neolithic period are strewn throughout the islands. With stone circles including Pobul Fhinn and Rubha Bhidein, as well as beautiful romantic ruins including Borve Castle and rare iron age wheel houses. The islands are connected by a stunning causeway built in the 1960’s which transformed life for the islanders. With more lochs than land the islands are a haven for birds and wildlife, eagles and otters are common, while out at sea porpoises often pass. The hub of the islands is Lochmaddy, a visit to Taigh Chearsabhagh, the thriving museum and art gallery, located at the water’s edge is a wonderful place to discover the islands heritage and enjoy some delicious home baking.

Your Included Itinerary
DAY ONE: Depart Glasgow and travel to our overnight hotel where we spend one night on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis.
DAY TWO: Today we travel on the morning Calmac sailing from Uig to Lochmaddy. On arrival here we travel the short distance to Benbecula where we spend two nights. Guided tour of North Uist.
DAY THREE: We depart the hotel in the morning for an excursion to the Island of Barra.
DAY FOUR: A morning excursion around Uists before we depart on the afternoon sailing from Lochmaddy to Uig. Overnight stay.
DAY FIVE: Depart overnight hotel and travel homeward.
