Scarborough Spectacular Turkey & Tinsel
5 Days Away
Visitors have been coming to Scarborough for over 400 years, since the discovery of mineral waters attracted those who wished to benefit from their healing properties. Things may have changed but Scarborough is still a fantastic destination for a break, with the majestic Scarborough Castle overlooking the North and South Bays, which offer a delightful walk along the stunning Victorian promenade in either direction, north bringing you to Peasholme Park, with its beautiful Oriental theme and boats to hire. Heading south along the promenade will lead you to the Stardisk, which when illuminated in the evening with the star constellations is a magical sight.
The beautiful Whitby Abbey perched above the town is well worth the 199 step climb to appreciate the wonderful view, watch the bustling harbour from above and soak up the atmosphere which inspired Bram Stoker when you visited prior to writing ‘Dracula’. The beautiful beach and delightful pier are not to be missed and try not to leave without trying the local fish and chips.
The historic city of York with its stunning architecture, including the York Minster, which is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe with stunning stained glass windows and magnificent towers, set within the famous Shambles, with its pretty overhanging timber framed buildings is well worth a visit.

Located on the banks of the River Ouse and contained within the most complete example of medieval city walls still standing in England today, York remains one of the UK’s most popular heritage cities.
The city is inevitably characterised by its rich history which dates back over 2000 years but with modern tourist attractions and a vibrant café scene, there’s more of a cosmopolitan feel to York nowadays. When you walk around York it’s easy to see the distinctive marks which the Romans, Saxons and Vikings left on the city.
