Scarborough Grand Special
4 Days Away
Scarborough was allegedly founded by Vikings and was the home for over 500 years to the acclaimed ‘Scarborough Fair’, a six week event every summer which attracted merchants not only from England but from much of Europe. Now claiming the title of Britain’s oldest seaside resort, visitors have been coming to Scarborough for over 400 years, since the discovery of mineral waters attracted those who wished to benefit from their healing properties. Things may have changed but Scarborough is still a fantastic destination for a break, with the majestic Scarborough Castle overlooking the North and South Bays, which offer a delightful walk along the stunning Victorian promenade in either direction, north bringing you to Peasholme Park, with its beautiful Oriental theme and boats to hire. Heading south along the promenade will lead you to the Stardisk, which when illuminated in the evening with the star constellations is a magical sight.

Located on the banks of the River Ouse and contained within the most complete example of medieval city walls still standing in England today, York remains one of the UK’s most popular heritage cities.
The city is inevitably characterised by its rich history which dates back over 2000 years but with modern tourist attractions and a vibrant café scene, there’s more of a cosmopolitan feel to York nowadays. When you walk around York it’s easy to see the distinctive marks which the Romans, Saxons and Vikings left on the city.
If you have never been to Whitby before, make sure it’s top of your list of places to visit.
This wonderfully atmospheric coastal town, divided by the River Esk, has a charming appeal with multiple personalities.
First and foremost it’s a thriving fishing harbour where explorer Captain Cook learned his trade, but it also boasts a bustling shopping scene, magnificent beach and has an intriguing connection with Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
