From the romantic Residenz Christmas Village to the quirky Pink Christmas in Glockenbachviertel, each market offers a unique atmosphere filled with mulled wine, handcrafted gifts, and live music. Augsburg welcomes visitors with its historic Christkindlesmarkt, one of Germany’s oldest, dating back to the 15th century. Set against the Renaissance town hall, the market features traditional crafts, festive performances, and the beloved Engelsspiel—a live display from the building’s balcony.

Held in the city’s picturesque Old Town, the Christkindlesmarkt on Rathausplatz is one of Germany’s oldest, dating back to the 15th century. Set against the stunning Renaissance town hall, the market features over 100 stalls offering handcrafted gifts, festive decorations, and seasonal treats.
A highlight of the celebration is the Engelsspiel, a beloved tradition where costumed angels appear on the town hall balcony, accompanied by music and lights. The cobbled streets are filled with the scent of roasted almonds, mulled wine, and gingerbread, along with local crafts, nativity scenes, and performances.
