Learn more about the city’s industrial heritage at attractions such as the Museum of Science and Industry and the People’s History Museum. Spend time discovering the city’s thriving arts scene with a visit to The Whitworth, an art gallery in the centre of Manchester which is home to some of the finest collections of art and design in the UK. 

Explore Manchester City Art Gallery and admire one of the largest art collections in Britain, outside of London. With a fantastic range of high street brands, independent boutiques and large department stores, Manchester is a popular shopping destination. 

In the city centre, you’ll find the Arndale Centre, one of the UK’s biggest indoor shopping centres, with over 200 retailers so you can ‘shop ‘til you drop’! You can then relax and recharge your batteries in the Foodcourt or Arndale Market which offers delicious cuisine from around the world.

Whilst giving you an insight into the history of Chester, the full circuit of the walls also allows you to take in wondrous views of the city.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the selection of attractions to explore in the city, including the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, cruises along the beautiful River Dee and the 1,000-year-old cathedral with fine examples of medieval wood carvings.
