Lytham St Annes
6 Days Away
The seaside resort of St Annes was a planned town built in the 19th Century, by gentlemen from the cotton industry, they saw an opportunity to design an upmarket resort which would attract the wealthy from the nearby industrial towns. This allowed them to decide which attractions they felt were important, they added a pier, to complement the beautiful beach. The resort has grown with boutique shops and a pretty high street retaining its beautiful Victorian charm. Since the first tourist arrived in the 19th century Blackpool has provided a wealth of attractions which continue to make it the most popular seaside destination in the UK. The Blackpool Tower boasts panoramic views and if you’re feeling brave you can step on the Skywalk, a glass platform 380 foot high. With over 38 rides there is something for everyone at the Pleasure Beach. This traditional resort has embraced changes without losing its identity ensuring that it continues to delight visitors old and new.
Liverpool has moved on from its industrial past and is embracing the future with its cosmopolitan outlook, with designer stores, galleries, a host of museums and not forgetting one of the biggest bands of all time, The Beatles. Why not visit the Cavern Club where the Beatles were ‘discovered’ and their successful career began , or take a trip on the Mersey, the famous river that flows through the veins of this city, you can delve a little deeper into past that made this city so great. Southport, a traditional Victorian resort is set on 22 miles of coastline and boasts the oldest iron pier in the country, it was once home to Napoleon and some have claimed that the beautiful tree lined Lord Street was the inspiration for Paris’s tree lined boulevards.
