In August, crowds flock to see the impressive Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a unique not-to-be-missed event that’s been attracting visitors since 1950. 

The Royal Mile is the city’s most famous street, running through the centre of the Old Town and connecting up the magnificent Edinburgh Castle with the beautiful Palace of Holyroodhouse. From Holyrood Park, take a walk up to the extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat, and take in the breathtaking views of the city.

The Kelpies are not only magnificent...
Andy Scott’s iconic works of art are the largest equine sculptures in the world. The focal point of Felix Park, they dominate the 350 hectares of green space and stand alongside the Forth & Clyde Canal with a breathtaking backdrop of mountains. At 100ft tall and weighing 300 tonnes each, the unique local landmarks are modelled on two Clydesdale horses: Duke and Baron.

They represent Falkirk’s history of using heavy horses in industry and economy, to pull the wagons, ploughs, barges, and coal ships that shaped the layout of the Scottish town.

Don’t miss – Taking a photo with the two enticing water spirits! In Scottish folklore, Kelpies are found in Scotland’s many lochs and can take many forms, from humans to horses.
