The cosmopolitan city of Newcastle offers fantastic shopping opportunities, visit the Newcastle Castle Keep a reminder of the city’s historic past, and the Great North Museum: Hancock is an incredibly interesting, free museum which is definitely worth a visit.
The historic city of Durham, with its winding cobbled streets and fantastic World Heritage Site, is a living piece of history, the castle, built to keep the Scots out, is now a renowned University, and far more welcoming to Scottish visitors these days. The Cathedral, built in honour of St Cuthbert, featured in the Harry Potter film’s as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, it is known to be one of the finest examples of Norman Architecture, and view from the top of the tower is well worth the climb.
The stunning Alnwick Castle dates back to the Norman Period and is the second largest inhabited castle in England, its magnificent medieval architecture has made it a popular film location and it has featured in many of the successful film and television productions including Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. We will also enjoy the beautiful coastline of Northumberland stopping at the pretty town of Bamburgh and the fishing village of Seahouses.

The castle is a fantastic attraction for the whole family, from plenty of Harry Potter themed activities and a terrifying live action dungeon to grand State Rooms, a diverse range of exhibitions and magnificent Garden, featuring poisonous plants!
