Itinerary
Day 1
Morning departure from your local pickup point to Holyhead for the afternoon crossing to Dublin and onwards to our overnight hotel.
Day 2
After breakfast we rejoin the coach to Wicklow. The coastal town has a lovely harbour, quirky high street shops and Wicklow Jail, one of Ireland’s most iconic buildings. The jail showcases the harsh conditions of prisoners from the 17th Century all the way to 1924 when the last prisoner left. Mid afternoon we continue our journey to Waterford. Check into the hotel and have some free time before tonight’s dinner.
Day 3
Today we join the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway for a journey along the banks of the River Suir. Arrive at Mount Congreve for an included visit of one of the world’s largest private gardens whose owner, Ambrose Congreve won 13 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Day 4
Full day in Kilkenny, a well-preserved medieval town, popular with tourists and with many original features. The best way to initially explore Kilkenny and its historic sights is on an included ride on a Kilkenny Road Train. Sit back and relax as it makes its way through the narrow streets to reveal the abbey, cathedral and many other highlights. This afternoon, explore the town at your leisure.
Day 5
Free day to explore Waterford which was established by the Vikings in the 9th Century and has become the capital of Ireland’s sunny South East. Enjoy a guided walking tour (not included) of this historic city, visit the city’s museums and the world-famous Waterford Crystal and its visitor centre.
Day 6
After a leisurely breakfast, we check out of the hotel and make our way to Dublin. The capital of the Republic of Ireland is home to an abundance of historic charm. Explore some of its many attractions including the cathedral, castle, museums and art galleries, parks, cafes, restaurants and many shops. Late afternoon we check into the overnight hotel on the outskirts of Dublin.
Day 7
Early “Grab & Go” breakfast before we retrace our steps to the port for the ferry back to Holyhead and our return journey home.
