The Queen uses the Castle both as a private home, where she usually spends the weekend, and as an official Royal residence at which she undertakes certain formal duties. The lavishly furnished State Rooms feature some of the finest works of art in the Royal Collection and the Grand Reception Room, used as the main ballroom, displays striking chandeliers and gilding. Not to be missed is the Dolls House, built in 1921 for Queen Mary. It features a flushing toilet, hot and cold running water, wine cellar and even working lifts!
