Day 1Morning departure from your local pickup point, we make our way south for the ferry crossing to Isle of Wight arriving at our hotel late afternoon. We will be greeted with tea and mince pies on arrival. Tonight we enjoy a drinks reception before a candle lit dinner.
Day 2We start the day at Osborne House. The stunning House is the former family home of Queen Victoria and one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Isle of Wight. After first visiting Osborne, Queen Victoria wrote: 'It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot'. See the extravagant interiors of the private apartments including the Queen’s bedroom and nursery rooms. In the afternoon we visit Ryde. The seaside town is arguably the best place on the island to indulge in retail therapy – the perfect opportunity to finish your Christmas shopping! Tea and cakes will await our return to the hotel. Tonight we have a mulled wine reception with carols before a gala buffet. Take part in a Victorian Christmas quiz after dinner with prizes.
Day 3We begin the day in Godshill, a beautiful village with a medieval church, charming thatched-roofed cottages and a winding main-street lined with traditional tearooms. We continue on to Newport in the afternoon. Located in the centre of the island, the town is often referred to as its capital and its not hard to see why with a number of well-known chain stores mixing with smaller independent shops across the two main squares. Tonight we have a special Isle of Wight beer and wine tasting reception before a festive dinner with all the trimmings followed by music and dancing.
Day 4Today we travel to the other side of the Isle of Wight to visit The Needles. The lighthouse is an impressive sight standing boldly against a chalk background. You can take a chairlift ride down to beach to experience the spectacular views then back up to the top see craftsmen making a variety of bespoke glassware. From here we travel to Ventor for some free time in the seaside resort before returning to Shanklin for the remainder of the day. Enjoy a three course dinner whilst marvelling at the trickery of a table magician. After dinner await a visit of a surprise guest!
Day 5After breakfast we make our return journey home with fond memories of our Victorian themed week.
