Itinerary
Day 1
Meet the coach at your local pick-up point and enjoy a relaxed journey north to beautiful Cumbria. We make a stop at Boundary Mills, Colne, where there will be time for lunch (not included) and a leisurely browse before continuing to our hotel.
Day 2
Today we visit the majestic Muncaster Castle, an iconic historic home set in stunning gardens with sweeping views across the Lake District fells. Wander through its beautifully preserved rooms, explore the charming gardens, and perhaps encounter the castle’s famous birds of prey in a thrilling display. Immerse yourself in centuries of history, enjoy the tales of the families who lived here, and take in the spectacular scenery.
Day 3
Experience the best of the Lake District on today’s scenic excursion. Begin in the historic market town of Kendal, known for its quaint streets, charming shops, and famous Kendal mint cake. In the afternoon, we continue to Bowness-on-Windermere, a picturesque lakeside resort. Stroll along the waterfront, browse boutique shops, or simply enjoy the serene views of England’s largest natural lake.
Day 4
Prepare for a journey through some of Cumbria’s most dramatic scenery aboard the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. This charming narrow-gauge railway winds through valleys and past sparkling rivers, offering picture-perfect views at every turn. Step back in time as you ride in comfort, and don’t forget your camera — the landscapes are truly breathtaking. After your scenic journey, we visit the railway museum, where the history of this remarkable line and its steam engines comes to life.
Day 5
After breakfast, we begin our return journey home, stopping en route at Bury Market, where there will be time to browse the famous stalls before continuing home.
Hotel
The Cumbria Grand Hotel is an elegant Victorian hotel set within 20 acres of gardens and woodland, overlooking Morecambe Bay on the edge of the Lake District National Park. It’s a peaceful base for exploring the Lakes and is close to the promenade at Grange‑over‑Sands. The hotel has a lift but due to the age of the building there are some internal steps.
