This morning we have free time to explore Ulverston, a historic market town with cobbled streets, specialist shops, and cafes and pubs for lunch. Why not call into Gillam’s tearooms and specialist grocers, as featured on BBC’s Hairy Bikers. In the afternoon we visit Conishead Priory, international centre for Modern Buddhism and Temple for World Peace. During our guided tour of the house and temple we will learn about World Peace, the Buddhist way of life, and view the historic house, originally a 12th century Augustinian Priory, in its beautiful parkland setting. The House is a superb example of Romantic Gothic architecture, completed in 1836 by the Braddyll family. There are also woodland walks and the shoreline of Morecambe Bay to enjoy.
