The Kynren Show is an epic 90-minute adventure through British history. Set against the stunning back-drop of Auckland Castle in County Durham, the show begins at sunset and continues on under the light of the stars. You’ll watch as King Harold overcomes the Vikings, only to face Norman invasion, before heading on a whirlwind trip through time; see the splendour of the Tudor Court, the brutality of the English Civil War, the gorgeous Georgian Renaissance, the steam driven Industrial Revolution and both World Wars, all seen through the eyes of Arthur, a young boy from the north east. The show is directed by Olympic ceremonies veteran, Steve Boyd, so you’re guaranteed to see something spectacular! So why not join us on a 3-day tour which takes in some treasures of the north and a truly amazing time-travelling extravaganza!
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
After a morning departure from your local pick-up point, you’ll head to Harrogate where you’ll have time to explore this charming Yorkshire Spa-town. Wander through the elegant streets, and take in the Victorian grandeur of this jewel in Yorkshire’s crown. In the late afternoon you’ll continue your journey to the hotel.
You’ll have most of the day to explore Durham; why not visit the majestic cathedral and the imposing castle, or else wander the streets and take in the impressive architecture from across the ages. After a day of exploring, you’ll head back to the hotel for an early dinner before heading to Auckland Castle for the Kynren Show.
After a spot of breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you’ll visit Crook Hall a magical 13th century house and gardens. The house has been owned by several families, some of whom have been quite influential. In 1346, on the night before the battle of Neville’s Cross, John De Coupland stayed at the Hall – at the battle, he would capture the Scottish King! The House and grounds are lovely places to explore with plenty of beautiful treasures to marvel at. In the afternoon, you’ll re-join the coach for the journey home.
