Day 1Morning departure to Portsmouth for the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight. We continue on to Shanklin and our hotel, arriving early evening.
Day 2Enjoy a free day to relax in the hotel, take a walk, or perhaps take one of the frequent buses to another part of the island. Shanklin Old Village is a favourite attraction, where most of the picturesque cottages clustered around the thatched Crab Inn have now become craft and gift shops or restaurants.
Day 3We start the day at Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s palatial holiday home. There’s an opportunity to visit Victoria and Albert’s private apartments, their bathing beach and children’s play-cottage for an intimate glimpse of royal family life. Then stroll through the garden terraces with stunning views across the Solent. In the afternoon we visit Godshill, a picturesque village full of thatched cottages.
Day 4This morning we visit the seaside town of Ryde. In the afternoon we step back to a bygone era with a journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Relax in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages as the train makes its way through the beautiful countryside.
Day 5We depart the hotel and make our return journey home.
