Day 1

Morning departure from your local pick-up point to London, arriving in the early afternoon. You’ll have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the capital – why not visit a museum, indulge in some retail-therapy or tour Kensington Palace?

Day 2

Today we have a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster. The original palace was built in the 11th century, and was actually a residence for the Kings of England until much of it was destroyed by fire in the 1512, after which it served as the home of the Parliament of England, which has been meeting there since the 13th century. The palace was then completely destroyed in 1834, again by fire, and was rebuilt in the Gothic Revival style by architect Charles Barry. The tour takes you through many of the most beautiful parts of the Palace, including, the Norman Porch – which is the sovereign’s entrance and used on all State occasions where the Queen attends Parliament, The Lord’s Chamber, the Commons Chamber – where your MPs battle it out, and Westminster Hall – the oldest remaining part of the Palace, which was once used as a banquet hall for coronations, played host to the trials of King Charles I, Sir Thomas More and Guy Fawkes, and is now used whenever the Queen needs to address both houses of Parliament. It’s also been used by a few foreign Heads of State, like Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela, who were accorded the honour of addressing Parliament.

After the tour, you’ll be taken to the Terrace Pavilion where you’ll be treated to a delicious afternoon tea, made fresh by the award-winning Parliament Chefs, who have designed the menu to reflect tradition but with a modern twist.
