Itinerary

Day 1

Morning departure from your local pickup point to Skipton. Here we have some free time for sightseeing, shopping and lunch (not included). Rejoin the coach mid afternoon as we continue to the hotel.

Day 2

Today we enjoy a scenic day in the Lake District. We begin in Windermere, the most popular destination in the Lake District, before continuing on to Ambleside for the afternoon. Situated at the top of Lake Windermere Ambleside is predominantly a Victorian town, built of dark grey slate. There are many restaurants and other places to eat in Ambleside and an exciting range of arts, crafts, jewellery and interior design shops.

Day 3

Christmas Day. Enjoy breakfast in the restaurant. A traditional Christmas lunch is included. Tea/coffee and Christmas cake will follow as well as a screening of the Queen’s Christmas Message. A buffet dinner will be served early evening after which you can relax and enjoy tonight’s entertainment in the lounge.

Day 4

Today we visit Kendal. Often known as the 'Auld Grey Town' thanks to the sombre grey stone used for many of its buildings, Kendal is a bustling shopping centre with some good restaurants, a unique arts centre and intriguing museums. But it'll forever be synonymous in many people's minds with its famous mint cake, a staple item in the nation's hiking packs ever since Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay munched it during their ascent of Everest in 1953.

Day 5

After a relaxing start to the day we check out of the hotel and make our way home making a stop on Harrogate for some time at leisure.

Cumbria Grand Hotel

The Cumbria Grand Hotel, built in 1880, is only a short drive from the majestic Lake Windermere. All guest rooms have en-suite, TV, hairdryer, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift but as a result of the age of the building there are some period features of the architectural mix that might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

Includes

  • Return coach travel
  • 4 nights Cumbria Grand Hotel half board
  • Christmas Day lunch
  • Daily entertainment
  • Visits to Skipton, Windermere, Ambleside, Kendal and Harrogate
