Itinerary
Day 1
Join the coach at your local pickup point as we make our way north arriving at the hotel late afternoon.
Day 2
We start the day with a 90 minute cruise on the Firth of Forth. The cruise takes in the magnificent Three Bridges, Inchcolm Island and its medieval abbey - the ‘Iona of the East’ and the Edinburgh skyline. Keep your eyes peeled as you may spot marine wildlife including seals, puffins, porpoises, and dolphins. Afterwards we visit Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway for a train journey the old fashioned way. Relive the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear as we travel the ten mile return train journey to Manuel Junction along the Forth Estuary, through woodlands, past waterfalls and over the Avon Viaduct.
Day 3
Today we have a full day in Edinburgh. The city is brimming with places waiting to be explored. Edinburgh Castle is at the top of our list of Things to Do and there’s no shortage of museums (some are free entry). The Old Town district is a popular tourist spot where many attractions can be found.
Day 4
We have a morning visit to Abbotsford House. The house is the ancestral home of Sir Walter Scott, a 19th century novelist and poet, and it has become one of the most famous houses in the world. Visitors to Abbotsford can explore rooms that remain just as Sir Walter Scott left them, filled with the intriguing treasures he gathered during his lifetime. We include a guided tour of Scott’s House ending in the garden which you can explore in your own time. On our return to the hotel we make a short stop in Peebles, a lovely town with a bustling High Street.
