As the River Torridge tumbles towards the coast, it passes some of North Devon’s loveliest towns and villages before meeting the sea. The biggest of these towns, once North Devon’s principal port, is Bideford, with its ancient stone bridge and working harbour.

Morning departure to Bideford arriving late afternoon.
We begin our day in Barnstaple were we board the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway pulled by a narrow-gauge steam locomotive. After the return journey we enjoy some time at leisure in Barnstaple. Please note the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway will not be operating on the March departure and will be a full day at leisure in Barnstaple.
Full day at leisure in Ilfracombe. The town has a number of attractions including the award-winning Ilfracombe Aquarium, the unique Tunnels Beaches and the fascinating Ilfracombe Museum.
We begin the day at Arlington Court & Carriage Museum. The Victorian estate is nestled in the thickly-wooded valley of the River Yeo and contains antique treasures. The interior of the house is crammed with an eclectic mix of period furniture and unusual items collected by the Chichester family over the years. The Stable Block is home to the National Trust's collection of historic horse-drawn carriages. There are over 50 carriages in the collection, ranging from an ornate State Coach to a more practical Hansom cab.
After a leisurely breakfast rejoin the coach for the return journey home.
