Itinerary
The Day
You’ll start the day in Bakewell, which is best known for the delicious Bakewell Pudding and the Bakewell Tart. The market has been held every Monday since 1330 when a Royal Charter was granted, and it’s a wonderful place to find a bargain; you can even watch the fierce bidding at the livestock market!
In the afternoon you’ll visit Buxton. Buxton is renowned for its Georgian and Victorian architecture, much of which is linked to the ambitions of the 5th Duke of Devonshire who wanted to make Buxton a sincere rival for the more fashionable Bath. You might like to visit the Pavilion Gardens, or spend the afternoon shopping.
