Tour Highlights: St Nicholas Fair Christmas Market, Christmas at Castle Howard and North Yorkshire Moors!
Being based in central York allows us to experience this famous city when the St Nicholas Fair will be in full swing. Castle Howard will be dressed for Christmas, and we also see some great scenery.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Itinerary
Itinerary
FRIDAY An early start as we travel north and arrive at Castle Howard approx. 1400 for a visit to the house and grounds. Always a delight but even more so at Christmas. Then on to our hotel.
SATURDAY We visit the food capital of Yorkshire, Malton. It has great independent shops and on Saturdays has a market. Then we enjoy a drive over the Moors to Whitby, a maritime city steeped in history with a maze of narrow streets full of shops. There is then a scenic drive via Scarborough to complete a great day.
SUNDAY All day to enjoy the city of York, which at this time of year hosts the St Nicholas Fair, which brings magical stalls and merriment to the city. There are over 100 traditional style chalets selling inspired gifts and stocking fillers. Plus, all the normal shops and attractions this city has to offer.
MONDAY We return with a stop in the Peak District town of Bakewell. It is ideally situated on the banks of the river Wye with mellow stone buildings and a medieval five arched stone bridge.
