8 Days | 2-centred holiday in Switzerland!
Tour highlights: two train rides, Abbey and cheese tasting!This great twin centre holiday includes a winter ride on the famous Glacier Express, we travel to the prestigious resort of Zermatt on another train, visit Lake Constance and have a cheese tasting and tour of the baroque styled Abbey St Gall in the mountain town of Appenzell. Staying in two centres in Switzerland allows us to travel to and from the country on different routes from / to our overnight hotel.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.

Itinerary
Itinerary / Departure date update: now departing 1 day later.Tuesday We catch the 1130 P&O ferry to Calais and on to our overnight hotel, the 4 star Mercure Hotel Saarbruken Sud.
Wednesday Into Switzerland and on to our hotel for 2 nights, the Hotel Kristall-Saphir in the breathtaking mountain region of Saastal. We are met with a hot drink on arrival.
Thursday By coach to Taesch where we take a shuttle train to Zermatt. Set beneath the mighty Matterhorn, this prestigious resort is composed of traditional timber chalets and has lots to see and do. You may wish to explore the Matterhorn Museum, catch the Gornergrat Mountain Railway up to the Gornergrat ridge for spectacular views, or simply enjoy Zermatt’s classy restaurants, cafés, boutiques and chocolate shops. After taking the return shuttle train to Taesch we return to our hotel by coach.
Friday To Brig to board the Glacier Express for a 5.5-hour journey on the slowest express train in the world! We travel through snow-capped mountains and enjoy stunning views of glaciers, sparkling streams and waterfalls as we make our way towards Chur where our coach will meet us to transfer us to the Vienna House Hotel, our base for 3 nights.
Saturday A relaxing day as we travel the short distance to the historic island of Lindau in Germany, famous for its picturesque position on Lake Constance with spectacular snow-covered mountain backdrop. We enjoy free time to see the centuries-old buildings, picturesque alleyways and the impressive harbour entrance guarded by a Bavarian lion and historic white lighthouse. Free time in Dornbirn on our return.
Sunday Another short journey to the mountain town of Appenzell for a short amount of free time in the village centre before enjoying a guided tour and tasting at the Appenzeller Cheese Dairy to discover the traditional way of making this delicious cheese. Afterwards, we travel to St Gallen for a little free time in the town centre before learning more about the centuries-old history and beautiful architecture of the town with a fascinating guided tour of the baroque-styled Abbey St Gall and Library.
Monday Taking a different route, through Germany, we travel to Metz.
Tuesday To Calais and home.
