During the tour, we ascend 150 feet above sea level at Bamburgh Castle, England’s finest coastal fortress, and enjoy a scenic cruise to the Farne Islands, home to the country’s richest seabird and seal habitats. We’re joined by a local guide for a full day exploring Hadrian’s Wall, the most impressive Roman monument in Britain. Finally, we take a guided tour of the majestic Durham Cathedral, perched dramatically above the city. This tour remains a firm favourite year after year!

Monday We head north to Newcastle, pausing for lunch in Wetherby, an award-winning floral market town dating back to 1240. On arrival at the hotel, we’re welcomed with tea and biscuits.
Tours at Resort
A | Enjoy a guided tour of Durham Cathedral, one of Europe’s architectural masterpieces, including entry to the Open Treasure Exhibit and museum. Afterwards, explore the charming city centre nestled below the castle along the River Wear.
B | Take a scenic drive through Northumberland to the coast for a private guided tour of Bamburgh Castle, complete with a hot drink and cake. From the castle, admire views of the Farne Islands, then set sail on a 90-minute Farne Island Experience cruise to Inner Farne. With luck, you’ll spot seals, puffins, guillemots, razorbills, and more—an unforgettable wildlife encounter!
C | Join our local guide for a panoramic coach tour of Hadrian’s Wall, including a visit to a renowned Roman Cavalry Fort. We also stop at Heddon-on-the-Wall, Corbridge, Hexham, and the
dramatic viewpoint at Steel Rigg.
Friday We journey home with a lunch break in Harrogate, the elegant spa town known for its gardens, architecture, and famous tearooms.
