Itinerary
Monday We begin our journey with a lunchtime stop in St Albans, a city brimming with history, culture, and excellent shopping. Then we continue on to our hotel in Ipswich.Tuesday Today we explore the Suffolk coast, starting with Southwold, known for its colourful beach huts and traditional pier. We then visit Thorpeness, a whimsical village featuring mock-Tudor houses and the quirky ‘House in the Clouds’ folly.
Wednesday We enjoy a guided tour of Sutton Hoo, the legendary Anglo-Saxon burial site where one of Britain’s greatest archaeological discoveries was made in 1939. Explore the awardwinning exhibition, a full-size burial chamber reconstruction, and the 225-acre estate. (PLEASE NOTE: the burial mounds require a 10–15 minute walk.) In the afternoon, enjoy free time at Ipswich Marina, just steps from our hotel, with its yachts, shops, and cafés.
Thursday To Lavenham, famed for its medieval half-timbered houses, boutique shops, and cosy cafés. Then on to the Italianate Palace of Ickworth, where we explore the house and enjoy a
guided outdoor tour of the gardens, blending formal design with woodland and rolling countryside.
Friday We conclude our tour with a lunchtime stop in Royal Windsor, offering time to explore this historic town before heading home.
