Based in the coastal town of Montrose, this tour features magnificent architecture and the best of royal, rural and city life! Balmoral is the Scottish Home of the Royal Family and where Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away. Our visits also include the 18th century House of Dun, a family-run working farm and in Aberdeen we explore the Gordon Highlander Museum and spend time exploring the famous ‘Granite City’. We have one final attraction to visit at our overnight hotel stop which is the Famous Blacksmith Gretna Green Experience. Our Montrose hotel provides an afternoon tea one day and there will also be two nights of entertainment such as a quiz or bingo.

NEW TOUR!
Saturday North and we just cross the border to reach our overnight hotel, the Gretna Hall Hotel, where we are met with a hot drink. We also have entry to the Famous Blacksmiths Gretna Green Experience where we can fall in love with the world’s greatest love story and dive into the history of true love and marriage.
Sunday Into Scotland and we make a lunch time stop in Stirling, a small city with a big history, plus historic attractions, and spectacular scenery. Then on to Montrose which boasts an attractive town centre and has a wide sandy beach.
Monday We spend today at stunning Balmoral where we discover the castle’s fascinating history, famous residents and visit the largest room in the castle, the ballroom. We can also visit the exhibitions and covering three-acres, the beautiful formal gardens that feature a large garden kitchen and a range of Victorian glasshouses full of flowering pot plants and a water garden. We take a a different route to and from Balmoral to take in the scenery of the Cairngorms National Park.
Tuesday To the 18th century House of Dun, an elegant Georgian country house designed with baroque extravagance. We have a guided-tour as costumed guides reveal the history of the house and its people. Outside there are beautiful formal gardens we can explore. Later we discover what daily life is like on a Scottish farm at Newton Farm. There is time to pet and feed the animals and we round off the visit with a hot drink and some home baked treats.
Wednesday Along the coastal road to Aberdeen and we visit the Gordon Highlander Museum which celebrates the story of the regiment if the same name and its 200 years of history with memorabilia and even a replica WWII trench. Then the remainder of the day is yours to explore the city, spend time in the merchant quarter or relax in one of the many parks and award-winning gardens.
Thursday We depart Montrose and our route south allows us to cross two famous bridges over the River Tay and the Firth of Forth on the way back to our overnight hotel, the Holiday Inn in Preston.
Friday We return south and home.
