Escape to the heart of Northumberland with a relaxing winter break based in charming Alnwick. Enjoy picturesque coastal villages, historic treasures and gentle touring, all from our cosy 300 year old coaching inn. With fun evening entertainment, a ‘Taste of Northumbria’ experience!
Please note: On our return journey we will be staying at a different hotel for night 4 - the Mercure Kenwood Hall near Sheffield.

Itinerary
FRIDAY We head north, making suitable comfort stop enroute towards our lunchtime stop in the charming market town of Wetherby for our lunchtime break. Set by the River Wharfe, Wetherby offers level streets, plenty of cafés and a relaxed atmosphere before we continue our journey to Alnwick and check into the White Swan Hotel.
SATURDAY Today we set off on a scenic coastal drive to the charming fishing village of Seahouses, where you’ll have time at leisure to wander along the seafront or browse the local shops. This afternoon we continue along the stunning Northumberland coastline to Bamburgh, dominated by its impressive castle, with admission included for you to explore at your leisure. You may also wish to visit the RNLI Grace Darling Museum or take a leisurely stroll through the village, soaking up the magnificent coastal views.
SUNDAY We journey across the tidal causeway to the mystical Holy Island of Lindisfarne where we have an included visit the striking Lindisfarne Castle perched dramatically above the coastline. Afterwards explore the peaceful priory ruins and browse the island’s craft shops.
MONDAY We check out but you are free to explore Alnwick at your own leisure until 1330. Wander the charming market town, visit the independent shops, or perhaps enjoy Alnwick Castle (entry not included), famous for its appearance in the first two Harry Potter films. The Alnwick Garden, with its beautiful landscapes and the intriguing Poison Garden, is also just a short walk away. Then onto our overnight hotel, the Mercure Kenwood Hall near Sheffield.
TUESDAY We return home with a lunch time stop in Stratford upon Avon.
