Itinerary
Monday We head north and over the border to our 4-star hotel in Stirling where we are met with a hot drink with biscuits.Tours at Resort
A | To Broomhall House which opens its doors by invitation only and we have a sumptuously engrossing tour of this private family home! We go behind closed doors on this exclusively eccentric tour led by a family member, uncovering the internationally important collection of fine arts and artefacts to be found in the regal high-ceilinged rooms. We also cross the Forth on one of its famous bridges to visit Edinburgh.
B | Our guided tour of Drummond Castle Gardens transport us to a world of natural beauty, serene tranquility and captivating vistas. Its meticulously manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and timeless elegance are a testament to centuries of landscape design. Queen Victoria remarked that the gardens were ‘really very fine’ during a visit in 1842! Our day includes a circular route that takes in a drive through the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, including views of two lochs, and a stop in the attractive town of Crieff.
C | Located in the UNESCO city of Dundee, a magnificent ship stands as a testament to naval craftsmanship and maritime heritage. HMS Unicorn holds a significant and captivating place in naval history and a visit uncovers the ship’s 200-year story from Georgian Navy to her use in the Second World War. Following free time in Dundee we visit the site of the first recorded whisky distillery in Scotland, revived after 523 years as Lindores Abbey in 2017, with their first ‘drams’ released in 2021. We have a tour and tasting!
Friday We return home.
