Sunday We make our way to North Wales and the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caenarfon. We arrive in time for you to explore the town or the UNESCO Heritage site of Caernarfon Castle which lies close
by (entry not included).
Monday Onto the Isle of Anglesey and to Holyhead where we board our ferry to Dublin, it is the morning ferry so we will enjoy breakfast on board rather than at the hotel. We then cross Ireland making a short stop in Athlone on the banks of the River Shannon. Our hotel for the next 4 nights is the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport.
Tours at Resort
A | We journey along the Wild Atlantic Way to the heart of Connemara National Park, often called the true Emerald of Ireland - for its breathtaking mountains, valleys, lakes, and dramatic coastline. We have a private tour of the iconic Kylemore Abbey, a serene lakeside retreat home to Benedictine nuns, nestled in postcard-perfect surroundings. Our scenic circular route takes in the region’s many loughs and natural wonders, with a stop in Clifden - the vibrant, cosmopolitan capital of Connemara, set on the very edge of Europe.
B | Set sail on a 90-minute luxury catamaran cruise through Killary Fjord, Ireland’s only glacial fjord. Glide past the rugged beauty of North Connemara as the skipper shares captivating tales of smugglers and local legends. Keep watch for playful otters, basking seals, seabirds, and even dolphins. The day continues on a circular route through the scenic Sheeffry Hills, skirting the tranquil shores of Doo Lough for more unforgettable views.
C | With a local guide on board, we explore the raw beauty of Achill Island - Ireland’s largest island and a crown jewel of the Wild Atlantic Way. Discover golden beaches, ancient megalithic tombs, and windswept promontory forts dating back 5,000 years. We then travel the 23-mile Atlantic Drive, stopping at hauntingly beautiful sites like the deserted village of Keel and the mysterious slopes of Slievemore. This is Ireland at its most wild, cinematic, and soul-stirring!
Friday We take a different route back across Ireland and catch the afternoon ferry from Dublin back to Holyhead. Back in Wales we stay at the Celtic Royal Hotel again.
Saturday The holiday isn’t over as we enjoy a drive through Snowdonia, right by Snowden, before making a lunch time stop in Llangollen.
