Itinerary
Monday Up the east side of the county and we make a stop in Bakewell, idyllically situated on the banks of the river Wye and famous for its puddings.
Tours whilst at resort
A | Into the moors and we unearth the positive effect of horticulture with an exclusive access guided tour of Helmsley, plus the opportunity to meet and talk to the volunteers who saved the gardens from dereliction. There are also colourful iris borders, peonies and indigenous plants to Yorkshire plus we are treated to a cream tea. We also visit Malton, Yorkshire’s food capital, a town of makers and markets set in beautiful countryside.
B | To Harewood House, set in over 100 acres of gardens with plants from all over the world in a landscape created by Capability Brown. We can also spend time inside the house and learn about life above and below stairs. There will also be time to explore Harrogate.
C | Into the dales for a circular tour with stops in Skipton and Grassington. In Skipton we have a cruise along one of the most varied and scenic canals in the country with hilarious commentary from TV’s Dave Spikey. Grassington is the beating heart of the Yorkshire Dales and boasts a bustling cobbled market square fringed by unique shops. Great scenery all day.
Friday We head home on a different route and cross the south Pennines for an early lunchtime stop in Hebden Bridge. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, this market town has been voted ‘greatest town in Europe’, ’best small market town in the UK’ and ‘fourth funkiest town in the world!’.
