NEW ITINERARY!INCLUDES SEA & TRAIN ADVENTURE, TRAQUAIR HOUSE WITH OWNER & ALES AND FLOORS CASTLE & GARDENS
A fabulous hotel and this year we have refreshed the itinerary, although we still visit Floors Castle, an established Scottish icon and majestic architectural gem. The other house we visit is Traquiar, which has an amazing and long history. Not only do we get shown around by the owner, but they also have a brewery on site, and we have a tasting! Finally, a completely different day as we enjoy a 90-minute cruise on The Forth, followed by a 10-mile return journey on a train alongside it!

Itinerary
Sunday North and over the border to our hotel in Peebles where we are met with shortbread and a hot drink.Tours at Resort
A | To Traquair House where Lady Catherine Maxwell Stuart will personally guide us through Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, which has welcomed a staggering 27 Kings and Queens of Scotland in its 900 years. Hear first-hand the stories of Mary Queen of Scots’ two visits and the diplomatic intrigue sparked. Then sample some of the ales brewed on-site in the 300-year-old brewery. Then to the world-famous town of Hawick which is home to five premium products and where cashmere and tweed were invented!
B | We start a scenic cruise of the Forth and view a UNESCO World Heritage site, The Forth Bridge. Take in spectacular views of the Edinburgh skyline and the islands of Inchcolm, Inchgarvie, Inchkeith and Inchmickery. Keep an eye out for the marvellous marine life, including seabirds, seals, and the elusive porpoise. Then on land enjoy rumbling in romantic nostalgia with the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear as we travel 10 miles aboard golden age Bo’ness & Kinneil Steam Railway, along the scenic Forth Estuary, through woodlands, past waterfalls and over the dramatic Avon Viaduct. We then have a short stop in Edinburgh.
C | To an iconic country house rather than a fortress, Floors Castle is the largest inhabited house in Scotland, home to 11 generations of Duke of Roxburghe. A true fairytale – we can discover collections of fine art, porcelain, tapestries in grand rooms set among 52,000 acres of Borders landscapes, and stunning Victorian walled gardens show piecing inspired collections. After visiting the castle, we have a tour of the gardens. Free time in the town of Peebles before we return to our hotel.
Thursday We return home.
