Itinerary
Itinerary
Thursday Our first taste of Cornwall as we visit Polperro, where picturesque and tightly packed cottages appear to tumble down to the harbour. Polperro involves a walk into town so if you would prefer, you can be dropped in the fishing village of Looe instead.
Tours at Resort
A | We spend the morning in the picturesque fishing village of Clovelly, a charming place that has not had motor vehicles since the 1920s! Resident donkeys and sledges are used to transport goods around the village. Then to Bude, a seaside resort surrounded by wild coastline and gorgeous beaches.
B | To Boscastle which for many years was the only accessible harbour in over 40 miles of craggy coastline and is full of history. Then to Tintagel, famous for its castle which is entwined with the legend of King Arthur and there is now an iconic bridge linking it with the headland. We haven’t included entry as it is not advised for those with limited mobility, but we will be here long enough to give you time to visit. If you would prefer to stay in the village there is a myriad of shops and cafes to explore.
C | Padstow is our first stop, a charming fishing port and a foodie destination ever since Rick Stein opened his first restaurant here in 1975. Then to the magnificent Lanhydrock House and Gardens where we can see the two sides of Victorian lives, from the servant quarters to the luxurious family areas. We can also amble around the impressive gardens, over 1000 acres with woodland and tranquil riverside paths to wander. Whilst visiting we get to enjoy a cream tea.
Monday A different route home as we follow the Atlantic Highway through Cornwall and Devon to a lunchtime stop in the Devon town of Bideford.
