Itinerary

Itinerary

Monday We travel North with an extended lunchtime stop in Lincoln. It is a beautiful, historic city full of heritage and culture plus home to a magnificent cathedral. Then over the famous Humber Bridge to our hotel.

Tuesday Our voyage of discovery starts when we explore Kingston upon Hull and its maritime history. There is a local guide on board who will bring to life the city’s best-loved and most beautiful sights as well as its hidden treasures. Then free time to explore at leisure to meander through Hull’s old town. Pop in the Street-life Museum of Transport and climb aboard a tram or take a carriage ride into the past. Visit Hull and East Riding Museum of Archaeology where you’ll find a life-size woolly mammoth! The Hepworth Arcade is where Mr Marks and Mr Spencer had one of their first penny bazaars! (no entries included).

Wednesday A leisurely drive takes us along the Yorkshire coast this morning. We visit Flamborough Head, a chalk headland that forms part of the Heritage Coast of East Yorkshire, with some breath-taking scenery. The headland is home to two lighthouses, which have been guiding ships to safety for over a century. Then on to Filey, a former fishing village now a popular seaside destination with an historic promenade, beautiful Edwardian architecture and an impressive five mile sandy bay. Then we visit the Scarborough Fair Collection, a nostalgic visit reminding us of bygone years with vintage cars, steam engines, fairground rides and penny arcades.

Thursday Today we visit Burton Constable Hall, one of Yorkshire’s most spectacular historic country houses and best kept secrets. With over 30 rooms crammed with art, furniture, and many surprises with over 500 years of family history plus over 300 acres of historic grounds to explore. We return via the pretty market town of Beverley, possessing its very own Minster and historic town centre.

Friday Once more over the Humber Bridge and we head home with a stop in Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies and Stilton cheese, with gardens alongside the river.
