Monday We begin our journey north into South Lanarkshire, where we settle into our hotel and prepare for a week of scenic exploration and cultural discovery.
Tuesday Our day starts in Edinburgh, Scotland’s vibrant capital, rich in history, culture, and striking architecture. We enjoy a two-hour guided coach tour with a knowledgeable local guide, offering insights into the city’s iconic landmarks. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure—perhaps visit the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, or enjoy a stroll through Princes Street Gardens. (enteries not included)
Wednesday We travel east through the Pentland Hills and Musselburgh, arriving in North Berwick, a charming coastal town with cafés, shops, and an old harbour offering dramatic views of Bass Rock. Here, we visit the Scottish Seabird Centre for a fascinating Discovery Experience, exploring the marine life and seabird colonies of Scotland’s shores. Our final stop is in Dunbar, a historic town with imposing stone buildings and unique local businesses, perfect for a relaxed wander before returning to our hotel.
Thursday Today we delve into Scotland’s industrial heritage with a visit to New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded in 1785, this beautifully preserved mill village is renowned for its pioneering social reforms. Explore the restored buildings, learn about the lives of the villagers, and enjoy stunning views of the River Clyde from the rooftop gardens.
Friday After breakfast, we begin our journey south, returning to England with wonderful memories of Scotland’s contrasts.
